(IMI Nova from 2007)– was established by the Rector Valentin Railean on march 1995 as a joint venture between some public and private institutions — three Moldovan academic institutions: the State University of Moldova, the Academy for the Economic Studies and the Academy of Sciences); two French Universities: the University of Grenoble Pierre Mendes and The University of Paris XI; and three companies: Bucuria SA, Victoria Bank and AFU Dresden.

Campus and courses: The mission of the IMI-Nova International Management Institute is to educate professional managers for integration into the modern globalized economy. IMI's core activities include MBA Programs, Executive Education Programs, Consulting Services, a Ph.D. in Business Administration Programs and research projects. It was the first such institutes in the post Soviet Union to offer a one-year MBA program based on a western European model and it has introduced the Bologna process and the European standard of Evaluation.

The main training areas are economics, business management and international business management. The academic year is divided in semesters with an obligation to sit for exams within the provided deadline dates. Courses are delivered in three main languages: Romanian, Russian and French, with some course modules in Italian and English.

The IMI uses their computer center as a tool in business research as well as preparing students for continued professional success. Using the internet is greatly encouraged and classes are designed stressing the global impacts of information technology. The institute has international agreements with universities in other countries including the University of Genova in Italy, the University of Nice, the University NOVI of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, and the Link Campus University of Malta in Rome (Italy/Malta), Cassino South Lazio University (Italya). In particular there is a close link to the State University of Nice Sophia Antipolis in France which follows the Bologna process for the MBA which is delivered following the ECTS system standard.

5. Experience and strengths of your organization in the field of the project (max. 1000 characters)

Mission: IMI’s mission constitutes the formation of a high entrepreneurial culture in the Republic of Moldova, directed towards the integration in European and International economy on the basis of organic blend of advanced knowledge in this area and country’s reality. Our aim consists in formation of specialists with a vast and modern business qualification, completed with a solid linguistic instruction in one or several foreign languages and a full professional preparation that allows a quick adjustment to actual necessities and social prospective.

Strategy: Major strategiesof the Institute’s administration deal, first, with maintaining Western standards of quality in teaching business and economics, and, second, with improving academic and research capabilities of the students and personnel.

Educational process: It is organized in correspondence with the curriculum in the domain of business elaborated with the contribution of experts and professors from deferent foreign Universities (France, England, USA and Italy). Moreover, the IMI curriculum underwent an examination from the part of Amsterdam University (Holland), Keele University (England) and Pierre Mendes France University from Grenoble (France), of foreign experts within the framework of TACIS Program for economic education in Moldova, being highly appreciated at the union of rectors of Management Institutions from CIS countries (Kiev, Ukraine, May 18, 1998). The instruction proceeds in tree ways:full-time education, part-time education, distance learning.
