Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostohradskyi National University
KrNU can trace its origins back to 1920. Today KrNU takes first place among the higher education institutions of the Poltava region and seventh place in the TOP-10 of higher education institutions in the Central region of Ukrainein the consolidated rankingof the Internet-source OSVITA.UA. The university is becoming internationally recognized according to different world rankings: QS World University Rankings (KrNU is one of 16 Ukrainian universities included herein); QS EECA Ranking Top-200 Universities in Emerging Europe and Central Asia (it is one of 16 Ukrainian universities included herein); Ranking WEB of Universities WEBOMETRICS (the 73th place among 291 Ukrainian universities).
The University provides education of the following levels: Bachelor (31education lines),Specialist (30 education lines), Master (32 education lines). KrNU consists of: 4 Faculties and 2 Institutes: Electronics and Computer Engineering, Economics and Management, Law, Humanity and Social Sciences, Natural Sciences,Institute of Mechanics and Transport, Institute of Electromechanics, Energy Saving and Automatic Control Systems.
There are about five thousand students that annually receive education in KrNU at full-time and part-time courses. There are about four hundred people of professor and lecturer staff who provide an educational process at the university, including 51 doctors of science, professors; 185 candidates of science, associated professors. Also 13 academicians and seven corresponding members of certain branch in Academies of Science of Ukraine, 16 masters of honourable state titles, seven prizewinners of the State Award of Ukraine in the fields of science and technique.
Since 1999 KrNU had become a member of the European Association of International Education. The university has also close international relationship with US Peace Corps, Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, Bolivar State University, University of Antwerpen, North–China Scientific Research Institute of Electronics and Optics, universities of Anaba, Lyublyana, Mons etc.
The priority directions of scientific and practical activity of the KrNU include: electromechanical systems and automation; power engineering, electric machines and apparatuses; modern materials and nanotechnology; energy and resource-saving technologies; information systems and mathematical modeling; modern technologies in mining; transport; mechanical engineering; biotechnology; ecological safety; land management; economy and management of enterprises, industries, national economy; management, marketing and personnel management; accounting, finance.
In 2016, a joint Ukrainian-Austrian research project "Methods for the processing of water-borne cyanide biomass" was started in cooperation with the Vienna University of Natural Resources Life Sciences (Austria).
Since March 2017, the Ukrainian-Polish Center for Science, Education and Culture has been functioning at the University with the support of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Kharkiv.
KrnU is a full member of the Association of European Universities (EUA), the Network of Black Sea Region University Universities (BSUN), the International Association of Universities (IAU) and other scientific and educational organizations.
For several years, employees of the KrNU undergo internship in the United States under the program of the Open Society Leadership Center in cooperation with the organization American Councils for International Education (American Councils). Within the framework of the Leadership Development Program of Ukrainian Universities, organized by the British Council in Ukraine and the Foundation for Leadership in Higher Education (UK), in partnership with the Institute of Higher Education of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, fruitful contacts have been established with the University of Abertej (Dundee , United Kingdom).
Key activities of the KrNU in the probably projects:
- contributing to the development of curriculums;
- providing the proposals for modernization and implementing of curriculums;
- taking part in lectures and seminars for the sharing of good practices;
- taking part in conferences, lectures and seminars in order to share experiences;
- taking part in trainings for university staff on topics included in curriculums;
- adaptation and implementation of laboratory equipment;
- publication of the obtained results in the form of reports and papers in professional domestic and foreign scientific journals;
- development and forming skills and competencies of staff and students to create the technical, economic and social conditions for their development.
The University is actively working towards integration into the international scientific and educational area and consistently implements the Strategy of Internationalization of Higher Education. The Grand Charter of Universities was signed by rector MV Zagirniak on September 21, 2007 in Bologna (Italy). KrNU is a full participant in the Bologna process and successfully co-operates with 76 educational institutions and scientific institutions of 25 countries of the world, participates in such academic exchange programs as ERASMUS +, DAAD, Fulbright.
Every year, the best teachers and students of the university become participants of Scholarship Programs of the Polish-American Freedom Fund (named after Lain Kirkland), of the Government of the Republic of Poland (for Young Scientists), of the Katerina Kovshevich Foundation (for talented and talented students) and of the Chinese government.
