Kamianets-Podilskyi National Ivan Ohiienko University
Kamianets-Podilskyi National Ivan Ohiienko University is an educational, scientific and cultural center of Khmelnytskyi oblast. The University was founded as Kamianets-Podilskyi State Ukrainian University on October 22, 1918, according to the law signed by Pavlo Skoropadskyi, Hetman of Ukraine, during the time of the Ukrainian People’s Republic.
In 1997 Kamianets-Podilskyi Pedagogical University was founded on the basis of the Pedagogical Institute.
Now the University is a state higher educational institution of the 4th level of accreditation. It is subordinated to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. By the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated by January 22, 2008, the university was granted a National Status and in August, 2008 it got the name of Ivan Ohiienko. Kamianets-Podilskyi National Ivan Ohiienko University is headed by the Rector Serhii A. Kopylov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of World History.
Educational and scientific research at KPNU is of the highest national standard. There are 9 faculties, 40 departments, 18 scientific schools, 14 research centers, 23 research laboratories at the University. Scientific and teaching staff of Kamianets-Podilskyi National Ivan Ohiienko University includes more than 478 people: 50 doctors of sciences, professors and 311 candidates of sciences (PhDs) and associate professors.
The work of the University is dignified at the international and national arenas. Thus, during the last decade, the University has been awarded the Honorary Diplomas of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, with distinctions of international ratings “European Quality”, “Glory Laurels”, “Millennium Award” (Business Assembly, Oxford, Great Britain), all-Ukrainian honors – “Sofia Kyivskay”, “Golden Fortune”, gold and silver medals of the annual exhibitions “Modern Education in Ukraine”, “Modern Educational Institutions”, “Innovation in Modern Education”, “Education and Career”, etc.
Active innovative scientific and didactic activities have always been considered a priority for Kamianets-Podilskyi National Ivan Ohiienko University.
In total, the University trains 6058 specialists for the educational-qualification levels “Bachelor” and “Master” (full-time, part-time and extramural forms of education) in 26 training areas.
The University has trained about 90,000 specialists for pre-school, general education, vocational education institutions, higher education institutions of the 1st -4th levels of accreditation and other branches of the national economy.
The University is a well-known base for Sports achievement. During the period of 1972-2016, 13 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze medals were won at Olympic Games by students of Faculty of Physical Education. The participation in European sports competitions was also marked by 256 medals: 62 gold, 235 silver and 127 bronze medals during the period of 2015-2017.
The University is located in 12 educational and laboratory buildings. Students live in 6 dormitories. There are 2 stadiums, a sports and health camp in the area.
International studies, the exchange of students and teachers, active innovation and didactic activities have always been considered a priority for Kamianets-Podilskyi National Ivan Ohiienko University. In 2018, the University contributed to the international academic mobility of higher education graduates, scientific and teaching training staff. Our University is a full participant of the Bologna process and successfully cooperates with 47 foreign higher education institutions and participates in the following academic mobility programs: ERASMUS +, DAAD, GAUDE POLONIA. The University is a co-founder of the Consortium of Warsaw and Ukrainian Universities, as well as an active member of the European Association of Universities and the Eurasian Association of Universities. The cooperation is agreed with the higher education institutions of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Republic of Belarus, Lithuania and Turkey. The main partners of the University are the institutions of higher education of the nearest neighbors - the Republic of Poland (Warsaw University, Opole University, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, the University of Nicolaus Copernicus in Torun).
During the 2017-2018 academic year, the University signed 3 bilateral cooperation agreements:
• in November of 2017, the agreement concerning scientific cooperation between Kamianets-Podilskyi National Ivan Ohiienko University and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan (Poland) was concluded. Within the framework of this agreement, the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan will host up to 10 students of our University every year for undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the fields of European Communication and Culture Design.
• In April 2018, the agreement of cooperation was concluded between Kamianets-Podilskyi National Ivan Ohiienko University and the Higher School of Economics and Innovation in Lublin. The subject of the agreement is cooperation in the following areas: scientific research; exchange of teachers and students (within the framework of academic mobility programs); holding of joint scientific conferences and seminars; sharing of publications; organization of joint cultural events, etc.
The University is an active participant of the Erasmus + program, a program of the European Union for the period 2014-2020, which supports partnership projects, activities and mobility in education, youth and sports. Thanks to the Erasmus + program, Ukrainian students and universities can actively participate in educational cooperation and knowledge sharing programs. This year, within the framework of the Erasmus + program, student of the Faculty of Education Bohdan Shchupak (specialization: 02.023 Restoration of Works of Art) took an active part in the program of credit mobility (21.02.2018-07.07.2018) at the University of Nicholas Copernicus in Torun, Poland. Bogdan successfully presented our University on the international educational arena.
In June 2018, the European Commission approved a project of Erasmus + KA107 between Kamianets-Podilskyi National Ivan Ohiienko University (Faculty of Physical Education) and the Catholic University in Ruzomberok (Slovakia). In the second semester of 2018-2019 higher education graduates, members of scientific and teaching staff of the University will be able to study / teach / practice at the Catholic University in Ruzomberok.
