Kharkiv I.P. Kotlyarevsky National University of Arts is one of the leading higher educational institutionsof art in Ukraine. It is also a major center of music and theatre education in the Slobozhan Region (Northeastern portion of Ukraine). High priority is given to the individual approach to education and professional training, recognizing that individual attention is best suited to develop and encourage the formation of a unique creative personality. Wide opportunities to practice as performers and conductors are offered by several creative student ensembles: Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Folk Orchestra and Academic Choir, all of which are famous in Ukraine and abroad. There is also an opera studio and two student theatres. Over the years more than 10,000 musicians and theatre workers have graduated from the University. Our graduates successfully work in different countries: the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Denmark, Australia, Israel, Russia, and others.

Previous international experience:

Considerable research is conducted jointly with foreign music and theatre higher educational institutions. Among them are arts establishments in USA, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Poland, and France. We have agreements with Conservatories of Nuremberg, Weimar (Germany), Katowice (Poland), Kaunas (Lithuania), Minsk (Belarus), and Vancouver (Canada).

The greatest step forward to connect with representatives of the international musical and theater elite in our University was made thanks to the annual international festival «Kharkiv Assemblies» which has been taking place since 1991.

The University’s lecturers are invited to become jury members in international competitions and festivals on many different cities of the world. They also conduct master classes in other countries.
