MUGLA SITKI KOÇMAN UNIVERSITY
Mugla Sıtkı Koçman University (MSKU),founded in 1992 as Mugla University, is a comprehensive and progressive state university situated in Mugla Province, one of the most distinguished regions of Turkey.
Students of MSKU receive education and training through modern curriculums in compliance with ECTS,from a young and dynamic team of academics mostly with international backgrounds and approaches. They are helped to broaden their knowledge and grow according to their talents.
Regional, national, and international research projects are conducted in which students can participate and gain professional and scientific experiences.
For teaching purposes, one academic year is divided into two semesters, autumn and spring. The undergraduate programmes at Mugla ıtk ı Koçman University are organized under departments and bachelor's degree (first cycle) is awarded to students who successfully complete eight semesters of study. Study at the vocational schools lasts for four semesters and leads to an associate’s degree (short cycle). The graduate schools (institutes) offer postgraduate courses and degrees that lead to master’s (second cycle) or doctorate (third cycle) degrees.
Course grades and graduation status are determined according to the principles of the university credit system (ECTS) and evaluations are done using the established grading scale. Apart from work conducted throughout the semester, for each course students must take at least one midterm examination and a final examination at the end of each semester.
Mugla ıtk ı Koçman University offers Foreign Language Preparatory Programmes for freshmen to attend for one‐year intensive study in English for home students or in Turkish for international students.
MSKU highly values internationalization at all levels. All steps are eagerly taken to participate in EU Programmes as well as other global partnerships and exchange programmes. International Relations Office coordinates EU programmes, student/staff mobility, international student recruitment, agreements, international projects and activities, and international promotion of the university. MSKU has been involved in student and staff mobility activities within Erasmus Programme, since 2004. Mevlana Exchange Programme enables mobility with non‐European partners, whereas Farabi Exchange Programme serves for national exchange. MSKU is also a very popular university in terms of international student applications and number of international degree students from over 60 different countries has reached 1197 in 2017. Mugla Sıtkı Koçman University was awarded with Diploma Supplement in 2013 and is an active member of European University Association (EUA) and Magna Carta Universitatum.
