Over many years National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” (Naukma) has built strong curriculum programs in many EU fields. There also are strong cooperation networks with other which European universities which includes study trips to the institutions of the EU. To continue the engagement in promotion of best educational standards Naukma starts a Bachelor programme focusing on International Relations. The new program reflects the increasing importance of International Relations at all universities worldwide and an excellent way to educate the future generation of Ukrainian leaders responsible for the external relations of Ukraine. This also broadens the scope of European Studies at the University. The intention of this proposal is to continue using these platforms to make the EU a better known phenomenon in the field of International Relations, especially in Security Studies. If supported, the Jean Monnet Chair “Integration as security” will be the first Ukrainian one in EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies. The broader purpose of the JM Chair will be to highlight the European experience in achieving the peace and security. For Ukraine the current political situation presents the maximum of security uncertainty. Ukrainian society desperately needs discussion and consideration of all options that European integration can provide for conflict resolution and national integrity of Ukraine. As a response to launching the programme in International Relations the JM Chair will raise the profile and increase the university's supply of EU-specific courses as well as strengthen teaching and research on European integration. JM Chair creates greater synergy with the security interests of Ukrainian society and greater levels of engagement and discussion on European integration as a driving force for more secure and prosper Ukraine, within the national community overall.
