Culture is a great instrument for Ukraine to understand Europe and for Europe to understand Ukraine.Scientific-Educational Institute of History and Socio-humanitarian Disciplines of National University “Chernihiv Colehium” applies for JM Chair in order to continue and deepen its focus on European Studies and to facilitate European cultural Studies. Prof. Marina Keda, the prospective chairholder, has considerable experience in teaching and research on a wide range of issues in the area of European history. Main activities of the Chair will focus on history of European cultural values, cultural governance and cultural communication:- develop and implement a new course “Origin of Europe: cultural dimension” and two additional cources on cultural governance and communication for bachelor students of Institute of History. Students’ practical work will concern Ukrainian regional European cultural heritage (through museum art collections);- develop a new course on basis of EU for postgraduate students of other specialties; – foster synergies to teaching programs beyond European Studies by offering workshops for university teachers on EUculture-related topics;- host an international conference “Cultural and communicative dimension of Europe: challenges for Ukraine” and two round table debates on EU cultural strategies, heritage, policy;- publish educational book for conducting practical classes on “Cultural politics of EU”, special edition of Bulletin of NUCHK with conference materials, two academic scientific papers in English and German language in European academic journals, number of scientific papers in Ukrainian journals, etc. – audio-supplement on regional museum collections of European Art for digital app for City Art MuseumThe Chair Project will promote communication through access common heritage to foster a sense of European cultural identity and mutual understanding between Ukraine and EU.
