Short description:

Project goals and objectives:
− To strengthen internationalisation of HEIs and capacity of young and senior professionals to tackle existing and future challenges in the area of sustainable livestock production and animal welfare via implementation of demand-driven and practice-oriented educational offer at HEIs in Ukraine, as well as via facilitated policy dialogue and structured knowledge transfer strategies.
− To modernize the existing Master’s curricula in Animal Breading, Livestock Production and
Veterinary Sciences.
− To strengthen the cooperation between Ukrainian agrarian HEIs and agricultural business sector.
− To establish four innovative excellence centers for Life Long Learning on Sustainable: Cattle Breading and Milk; Poultry Production; Pig Farming and Livestock Production and Animal Welfare.
− To promote the policy dialogue and cooperation to ensure enforcement and successful
implementation of international requirements, approaches and practices in the area of animal
welfare into the acting legislation in Ukraine.

Activities:
-to raise awareness and to improve of teaching contents in the master’s program, taking into account
the latest scientific achievements in the area of animal husbandry and affiliated societal challenges;
− to improve teaching and learning methods through the introduction of advanced didactic methods
and improvement of digital capacity of teaching staff, as well as via exchange with and involvement
of leading European researchers and teachers from the field of animal husbandry;
− to gain international experience in training and retraining for students and workers in the livestock
sector as well as improve the level of English language proficiency of students and teachers;
− to strengthen the technical capacity and professional profile of the institutions by establishment of
the network of sectoral excellence centers for LLL;
− to increase the graduates’ employability via improved educational offer, cooperation with business
sector and strengthened practical training of students in the livestock production sector.

Expected results:
– Modernization of the existing master’s curriculum in animal breeding, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine by means of the following:
-joint development and implementation of innovative content regarding animal welfare and sustainable production of animal husbandry products;
– improving the qualifications of the teaching staff and introducing innovative didactic methods and
scientific research;
– integration of elements of practical education through constant exchange and cooperation with business partners, their involvement in the educational process and practice;
– provision of a proposal for study blocks in a foreign language (English);
The work is aimed at modernizing master’s education programs in four Ukrainian higher education
institutions, including innovative content for sustainable animal husbandry and animal welfare, advanced didactic methods (student-centered and science-oriented learning) and practical training of students.
Organization of mixed mobility of students (physical and virtual) studying under modernized educational programs.
Development of new educational modules and didactic methods; concepts of strengthening the practical education of students (in cooperation with the business sector);
Introduction of innovative content and methods into existing master’s curricula;
Creation and equipping of innovative centers of excellence for lifelong learning in 1/ sustainable cattle breeding and milk production (LNUVMB named after S. Z. Gzhitskyi, Lviv), 2/ sustainable poultry farming (PDAU, Poltava) and 3/ sustainable pig farming (NUBiP , Kyiv) and 4/ the center for the transfer of information and knowledge at SNU named after V. Dahl (now Kyiv) with an emphasis on digital skills, distance learning and virtual mobility.
Strengthening cooperation between Ukrainian agrarian universities and the agrarian business sector
through cooperation in the development and implementation of innovative master’s programs, student practice, vocational training and knowledge transfer activities to exchange best practices and provide education according to international standards;
Facilitating national and international academic exchange by introducing elements of physical and virtual mobility for students between participating higher education institutions.
