EU Food Safety Control
Short description:
According to the Association Agreement Ukraine has to approximate its sanitary and phytosanitary legislation to the EU requirements in order to obtain authorization for export to trading partner countries that recognize the EU control system. The transition to new food safety service in Ukraine revealed that there is still a poor awareness of the food safety concept and the key aspects of the EU official food safety (FS) control in our country, which is confirmed by European projects currently running in Ukraine. The objective of this project is to organize a course on EU FS control. This module aims to promote understanding of the key elements of the SF system of the EU. The course will have an added value from the point of view of developing and modernizing the curricula and understanding the role of the EU and national bodies in managing the FS policy, and providing students with relevant knowledge for the employment market. The activities will stimulate excellence in teaching and reflection on European integration in FS system as it will be accompanied by active debating activities which can improve dissemination of ideas and new approaches among the general public, civil society, practitioners and academicians. It can strengthen the role of NULES in initiating open debates on actual and strategic questions of European FS assurance for the local and global sustainability of FS and will give a chance to extend the scope of European integration studies within the university. The extension of the number of students will be achieved through involving, besides veterinarians, researchers, experts, policy-makers, stakeholders in open summer school lectures and round tables. Participation of national expert in organic farming will allow for dissemination of the knowledge about official control in promising direction for Ukraine – organic food production. The website of the project will help to realize the impact by providing information about all planned activities.
