Social and Economic Inclusion of Refugees and Migrants in European Union: Challenges for Ukraine

Implementation of the module will introduce new area of study and research for the Ukraine that is dedicated to the social and economic inclusion of refugees and migrants. This area is very important because the sustainable development of EU and Ukraine is possible only if the principles of inclusion will be introduced in all spheres of socio-economic activity. The main outputs of the Module: introduction into the curriculum of three absolutely new courses focusing on the socio-economic inclusion of refugees and migrants; involvement in European studies students who do not automatically come into contact with European issues and those who study at the Institution, that have never been covered by the Jean Monnet Action; publishing of the collection of materials “European values and socio-economic inclusion of refugees and migrants in the EU: recommendations for Ukraine”; organization of three roundtables, of open lecture series and of the weekend school for pupils of Odessa region. The main outcomes of the Module: active teaching methods will be introduced in European studies at ONU; students from ONU and other Institutes will understand the importance of the social and economic inclusion of refugees and migrants; the project website will become a platform of OER for the socio-economic inclusion of refugees and migrants study in Ukraine; the basis for future poles of European knowledge introduction at the Institutions, that have never been covered by the Jean Monnet Action, will be constituted. The main impact of the Module: research-supported model of the EU studies will be implemented at ONU; ONU will become a leading national academic and resource centre specializing in the study of socio-economic inclusion of refugees and migrants in the EU and Ukraine; a network between University faculty, students, pupils, NGOs, local government authorities, EU organizations specializing in the study of European Values and socio-economic inclusion will be created.
