Information session on Erasmus+ opportunities in the fields of education and science, as part of the outreach event ‘Ukraine’s Integration into the European Research Area’ (15.05.2026, Kyiv / online)

On May 15, 2026, the team from the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine took part in the outreach event ‘Ukraine’s Integration into the European Research Area’, held in a hybrid format in Kyiv and online.

The event focused on Ukraine’s integration into the European and global research areas, the development of international scientific cooperation, and the synergy of European programmes in the fields of education, research, and innovation. The event brought together representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the EU Delegation to Ukraine, the European Commission, international organisations, the research community, and higher education institutions.

Within the second thematic block dedicated to Ukraine’s integration into the European and global research areas, Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, presented the opportunities of the EU Erasmus+ Programme for education and science .

The information session highlighted the role of Erasmus+ in supporting international academic cooperation, institutional capacity building of education and research institutions, academic mobility, cooperation partnerships, and Capacity Building projects. Current opportunities for Ukrainian educational and research institutions to participate in Erasmus+ calls in the context of Ukraine’s European integration were also presented.

Particular attention during the event was paid to the role of science, education, and international cooperation in strengthening Ukraine’s resilience during the war and the post-war recovery process. Participants discussed the importance of integrating Ukrainian science into the European Research Area, supporting human capital, and enhancing the participation of Ukrainian institutions in international programmes and initiatives.

According to the organisers, the event served as a platform for discussing further steps towards Ukraine’s integration into the European research and education ecosystem, as well as the development of international partnerships within European Union programmes.
