Ukrainian higher education institutions received 40 new Jean Monnet projects within the EU Erasmus+ Program on implementing European Studies
The European Commission and the European Education and Culture Executive Agency have informed about the results of the 2026 Jean Monnet Call for Proposals. Among the successful applications with the participation of Higher Education Institutions from Ukraine, 40 projects were selected for funding out of 747 applied: 38 Modules and 2 Chairs. All in all 2 223 applications were submitted to the call and 327 projects were recommended for funding. The top three non-associated countries are Ukraine (40), Albania (18) and United States (10).

Jean Monnet Actions focus on teaching, learning, research, and debates on various aspects of the European Union and EU integration. New projects will help to shape and develop a generation of European integrators in education and science, and will support Ukraine on its path as a candidate for EU membership.
The projects selected for funding cover a variety of EU activities and policies topics, including: circular economy, economic cohesion, inclusion, green deal, green recovery and energy saving, climate issues, land management, biotechnology and green competences, sustainable development, digital transformation, political and information literacy, digital security, countering disinformation and hybrid threats, digital thinking, use of artificial intelligence, journalism, media and identity, protection of children’s rights and interests, health of youth, pre-service teacher education with AI, EU values, sports values, financial integration, rule of law and good governance, leadership in education, and others.
In total, 29 higher education institutions from Bila Tserkva, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Irpin, Dnipro, Kyiv, Lutsk, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Ostroh, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Chernivtsi, in 2026 will begin the implementation of new Jean Monnet projects to carry out research and teaching of the European studies in Ukraine.
In particular: Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University received 5 projects, Lviv Polytechnic — 3 projectcs, Sumy National Agrarian University — 3, National University of Food Technologies — 2, Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics — 2, Dnipro University of Technology — 2 and other HEIs per 1. Between 2021 and 2026, Ukrainian higher education institutions were awarded funding to implement 313 Jean Monnet projects, 130 projects have already been completed. The database of the projects is available at the Erasmus+ Projects Results Platform.
