Round Table Presenting the Results of the Project “European Integration and Ukraine: Historical Memory and Migration Challenges” within the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Programme (15.09.2026, Zhytomyr)
On 15 September 2026, the team of the project “European Integration and Ukraine: Historical Memory and Migration Challenges”, which had been implemented over three years at the Department of History of Ukraine of Zhytomyr Ivan Franko State University, summarised the project’s results and outlined future prospects. These include further improvement of the courses introduced within the project and opportunities to implement new initiatives at the level of Jean Monnet Chairs. The event was held in person at Zhytomyr Ivan Franko State University. The round table was organized by the project team with the support of the University administration. The discussion brought together representatives of the University administration, all members of the project team, and stakeholders, including local government representatives, students at all levels of higher education, and teachers from Zhytomyr lyceums. The event also featured a presentation of the teaching handbook European Integration and Ukraine: Historical Memory and Migration Challenges, prepared as part of the project. Participants had an opportunity to analyse the main project results and their effectiveness and to share their impressions of both the content of the courses developed within the project and the various events organized during its implementation. They also outlined future prospects for disseminating the knowledge gained and consolidating the relevant skills acquired through participation in the project.

About the project
The project “European Integration and Ukraine: Historical Memory and Migration Challenges”.
Objective: To enhance Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD programmes in History in response to contemporary challenges; to improve knowledge of the fundamental principles and functioning of the European Union and Ukraine’s European integration processes; and to promote a better understanding of issues related to historical memory, memory politics, and European migration processes. The project also seeks to strengthen dialogue between academia and society, engaging policymakers at the local and national levels, civil servants, civil society representatives, stakeholders from different levels of education, and the media.
