22 new projects to build capacities for 107 organisations of Ukraine under EU’s Erasmus+ Programme

22 new projects involving 107 organisations from Ukraine have been recommended for funding under the European Union Erasmus+ Programme for Capacity Building in the Field of Higher Education Action (CBHE) in 2025. This year, the 173 projects proposed for funding include the participation as partners or coordinators of over 1,550 higher education stakeholders from almost 125 countries. Ukraine is in top 3 leaders by the number of partners involved into the projects.

Those new 22 projects focus on European approach of sustainable development in higher education, green and digital transitions, modernisation of medical education, music, maritime, agriculture education, urban resilience and post-war green rebuilding, good governance, institutional accreditation, adaptive individual academic pathways and competence-based interdisciplinary learning, alumni management and other.

According to the level of the impact and experience of partners, the projects are differentiated by three stands:  1) Fostering access to cooperation, 2) Partnerships for Transformation, 3) Structural reforms.

There are 15 national projects, 2 regional and 5 cross-regional project among funded. 194 partners from 29 countries are among the project teams (67 partners from Programme Countries and 20 from Partner Countries) representing Austria, Bulgaria, Belgium, Bhutan, Columbia, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Egypt, Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Jordan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine.

107 partners from Ukraine represent 65 higher education institutions, 2 institutions of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance,  Ukrainian Students Association, Associations of business clusters, Confederation of Employers of Ukraine, social and training centers, NGOs.

7 Ukrainian universities act as 9 project grantholders-coordinators: Dragomanov Ukrainian State University (2 projects),  Mukachevo State University, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (2 projects), Lviv Polytechnic National University, Nizhyn Mykola Gogol State University, State Biotechnological University, Ukrainian Catholic University.

65 HEIs from Ukraine represent classical, polytechnics, medical, pedagogical, economic, agrarian, architecture, automobile, maritime, tax, customs, penitentiary and border guard services from different cities of Ukraine, experienced and newcomers. 7 partnerships include 7 relocated universities from the temporary occupied territories.

Most number of projects were received by Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (4 projects), Lviv Polytechnic National University (3 projects), National University of Water and Environmental Engineering (3 projects), Nizhyn Mykola Gogol State University (3 projects), Sumy National Agrarian University (3 projects), N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (3 projects).

10 Universities are in 2 projects partnerships: National University “Odessa Maritime Academy”, Chernihiv Polytechnic National University, Izmail State University of Humanities, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, Uzhhorod National University, Khmelnytskyi National University, Kryvyi Rih National University, Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University, Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University, Zaporizhzhya National University.

From 2015-2024 Erasmus+ calls 95 CBHE projects funded by EU for Ukraine to contribute to the higher education reforms in Ukraine, Eurointegration processes and building new Ukraine based on the innovations and best practices of the partners from the EU Member States Universities.
