3 Ukrainian organisations will work on design and implementation of Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree projects under EUs Erasmus+ Programme

This summer three organisations from Ukraine have become winners of Erasmus Mundus Action projects under European Union Erasmus+ Programme. Out of a total of 90 selected proposals, 2 Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters and 1 Erasmus Mundus Design Measures projects involving Ukrainian Higher Education Institutions from Kharkiv, Odesa and Lviv were selected for funding. The results of the 2023 Call for Proposals were communicated by the European Commission and European Education and Culture Executive Agency.

These projects aim to develop of Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters programs and provide support for the development of high-quality master’s level educational programs taught jointly by international partnerships of Higher Education Institutions from different countries of the world and, in appropriate cases, by other educational and/or non-educational partners with specific expertise and interest in the area of study.

In particular, the Erasmus Mundus Action projects’ consortium included 3 Higher Education Institutions from Ukraine as coordinator and associate partners:

  • Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Coordinator of “Development of Joint Master programme «Artificial Intelligence for Cybersecurity“;
  • Odesа Polytechnic National University, Associated partner in “Safe and Reliable Nuclear Applications”;
  • N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Associated partner in “European Master For Industry in Microwave Electronics and Photonics”.

The Ukrainian organisations will be working in the international consortiums with the following countries: Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Jordan, Libya, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

From 2021, four Ukrainian universities as associated partners and coordinators are involved into implementation of 4 Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters and 2 Erasmus Mundus Design Measures projects. 123 Ukrainians were funded by the European Commission to study at the excellence joint master degree programmes by Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.

 

Background information:

Erasmus+ is the European Union Programme that aims to support, through lifelong learning, the educational, professional and personal development of people in education, training, youth and sport, in Europe and beyond. It provides opportunities for learning mobility, projects and partnerships, policy development and cooperation. The Programme is inclusive for people of all ages and backgrounds and open to different types of organisations.

Erasmus Mundus projects are working on the design, development and implementation of the Joint Master Degree Programmes. Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees are unique master programmes of excellence developed by a consortium of a minimum of two European universities which provide grants that fully cover the study programme, internship, travel cost, insurance, visa support, plus scholarship of EUR 1,000 per month, etc. 390 Ukrainians have been studied in Erasmus Mundus Joint Programmes from 2014.
