36 Ukrainians won Erasmus+ scholarships to acquire master’s degrees in European Universities in 2021
A total of 36 Ukrainians out of the 2 756 winners of the 2021 сall from all over the world will study at Joint Master Degree Programmes at universities in Europe and worldwide. Study in Europe has become possible for 25 females and 11 males from Chernivtsi, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Kherson, Kyiv, Lviv, Mariupol, Odessa, Ostroh, Uzhhorod with the financial support of the EU’s Erasmus+ Programme. Another 117 candidates from Ukraine are on the reserve list.
In total, 162 applications were submitted from Ukraine, among 12 271 participants competing from other 167 countries of the world in 2021. Thus, Ukraine* is in TOP 25 countries which represent the best results within the 2021 call. In addition, 551 candidates from Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia and Moldova) applied, with 118 applications being successful, which means that this year Ukraine again has shown the best result among Eastern Partnership countries.
The students from Ukraine will start Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees (EMJMDs) this autumn at the leading universities of Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. The main subject areas of the students’ choice are: Literature, Media and Culture; European and Eurasian Studies; Engineering and Software Systems; Innovative Medicine and Public Health; Chemistry; Mathematics; Politics, Economy and Society.
A total of 281 Ukrainian students have studied at Erasmus Mundus Joint Programmes since 2014, including 267 Master’s and 14 PhD’s students. They are considered to act as ‘ambassadors’, promote and support Ukraine in Europe and will contribute to Ukraine’s development, modernisation and reforms.

Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees are unique master courses developed by a consortium of a minimum of two European universities which provide grants that fully cover the study programme, travel cost, insurance, visa support, scholarship of EUR 1 000 per month, etc. In addition to their main curricula, students will be enrolled at language courses, learn about the countries of their stay, discover and enjoy new culture together with groupmates from around the world.
