The primary mission of the Ukrainian delegation at an international exhibition of this scale was to professionally showcase the resilience and potential of Ukraine’s higher education under martial law. Participation in the event aimed not only to demonstrate the significant achievements of Ukrainian universities but also to lay the groundwork for new strategic partnerships. This represents a vital step towards enhancing international cooperation, integrating into the global educational area, and strengthening Ukraine’s standing within the global academic arena.

Within the exhibition, HEIs teams and the NEO – Ukraine had the opportunity to visit the stands of National Erasmus+ Agencies and leading higher education institutions from across Europe and the world. These interactions aimed to identify shared interests and ideas for joint projects, as well as to showcase achievements and institutional/national impact within the EU Erasmus+ Programme in the fields of education, youth, and sport.

Over the course of Conference and exhibition, the NEO in Ukraine team together with Ukrainian HEIs organised two significant events:

  • A presentation on the state of higher education during martial law and the impact of Erasmus+ projects “REGARDING THE SITUATION IN UKRAINE, CHALLENGES, NEEDS AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR COOPERATION, held at the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) stand. The objective was to demonstrate the resilience of Ukrainian higher education amidst the war and to prove the strategic effectiveness of Erasmus+ projects as a key tool for supporting institutional stability, digitalisation, and the preservation of human capital for Ukraine’s future recovery and accession to the EU..

  • A screening of the documentary film “Academic Resilience Stories from Ukraine,” developed within the Erasmus+ project “Academies4Ukraine – Strengthen Higher Education resilience in Ukraine and European Union.” The screening aimed to share the stories of those who, despite the danger, fight to guarantee the right to education for all Ukrainian university students, both at home and abroad.

Participation in this large-scale international exhibition served as a pivotal platform for strengthening Ukraine’s position within the European Higher Education Area. It provided a unique opportunity to study global best practices, foster deep internationalisation, and exchange invaluable experiences of academic resilience. Such participation and active steps towards visibility on the global educational stage not only enhance the prestige of Ukrainian universities but also lay a solid foundation for the country’s post-war recovery and its successful integration into the European Union.
