Higher education policy reform for Impact HERE Annual Conference (4-5.12.2023, Barcelona)
On 4-5 December 2023, the team of the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine together with the Higher Education Reform Experts (HERE team) participated in the Higher education policy reform for Impact HERE Annual Conference. The event took place at the University of Barcelona and was organised by the SPHERE, coordinated by the European University Association (EUA – coordinator) with the support of the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).
Around 90 representatives from HEI, HERE teams from neighbouring EU Partner Countries, representatives of the National Erasmus+ Offices, experts from Europe and Partner Countries, as well as representatives of the hosting organisation – University of Barcelona participated in the event.
Participants from Ukraine were the following:
- Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine.
- Olena KOZIEVSKA, Representative of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Education, Science, and Innovation – Head of the Secretariat, Committee on Education, Science and Innovations, Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine – Parliament .
- Volodymyr BAKHRUSHYN, Professor of the Department of System Analysis and Calculative Mathematics at National University “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic”, Doctor Hab. in Physics and Math.
- Yuriy RASHKEVYCH, Member of the National Qualifications Agency, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor.
The Conference aimed to familiarise HERE team representatives with the experience of various European Higher Education Area countries on higher education reforms at the institutional and national levels. The Conference also aimed to enhance understanding of the role of higher education in changing the labour market landscape in the context of new competencies. Additionally, it addressed issues related to the greening in higher education, presenting and discussing the preliminary results of a study that SPHERE has been requested to produce by the European Commission.
The conference provided an opportunity to receive valuable recommendations and advice on practical solutions to specific problems for the enhancement of the potential of higher education. Participants also had the chance to showcase the results of the activities of HERE teams and the role of students in facilitating such reform.
In summary, the Conference served as a concluding stage that allowed evaluating the contribution of national HERE teams to the development and support of national higher education reform, the relevance and usefulness of specific measures to strengthen the institutional capacity of national teams, and defining the goals and strategy of the SPHERE Team for the 2024.
