International Online Conference & Bar Camp “The Future of Higher Education Management in the EHEA: Trends and Challenges” (04.07.2024, online)

On 4 July 2024, the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine team participated in the international online conference and bar camp “The Future of Higher Education Management in the EHEA: Trends and Challenges”, which took place in an online format.

Over 40 participants joined the international online conference and bar camp.

The event was held within the framework of two projects: “THEA Ukraine X (Multiplication Trainings for Higher Education Administrators in Ukraine),” organised by the Münster University of Applied Sciences (in collaboration with Sumy State University), and “Management of Internationalisation and German-Ukrainian Academic Cooperation,” organised by Leibniz University Hannover (in collaboration with Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv). Both projects aim to expand the opportunities of Ukrainian higher education managers, with a particular focus on the Ukrainian perspective.

The bar camp served as a platform for collaboration, bringing together educators, administrators, and academic managers to discuss, deliberate, and develop effective strategies for navigating the future of higher education management.

During the Bar Camp sessions, participants discussed the following issues:

  • Strategic frameworks for a shared future in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA);
  • Academic freedom and university management;
  • Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL);
  • Addressing higher education, citizenship, and migration challenges through art and science;
  • Challenges faced by Ukrainian students forced to leave their country due to war and continue their studies remotely, among other topics.

Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, joined the online conference and highlighted key priorities during the implementation of the project. She emphasised overcoming the challenges and consequences of the war, the modernisation and innovativeness of content, methodologies, resources, and results, as well as inclusivity and the integration of digital and green technologies. She also underlined the importance of disseminating project results and fostering collaboration and synergy with other projects and programmes.
