Introductory Speech at the All-Ukrainian Scientific Conference “European Paradigms for the Formation of a Culture of Tolerance in Education, Media and the Arts” within the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet EUROTOLERCULTURE project (25.09.2025, online)
On September 25, 2025, the team from the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine took part in the All-Ukrainian Scientific Conference “European Paradigms for the Formation of a Culture of Tolerance in Education, Media and the Arts”, held online and hosted by Zaporizhzhia National University within the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet project “European Experience in Shaping a Culture of Tolerance in the Ukrainian Perspective: Education, Media, Arts” (EUROTOLERCULTURE).
The conference brought together 51 participants, including representatives of academic and educational communities, researchers, lecturers, students, practitioners, and civil society organisations, for an in-depth interdisciplinary discussion on the role of education, media, and the arts in promoting European values of tolerance in Ukraine.
Within the conference programme, Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, delivered an introductory speech highlighting the role of the Erasmus+ Programme and Jean Monnet actions in fostering European values, including tolerance, through education, international academic cooperation, and intercultural dialogue. The contribution emphasised the importance of international educational projects in addressing the challenges posed by war, societal transformation, and Ukraine’s European integration process.
The conference agenda covered a wide range of issues, including the impact of war on perceptions of European values, inclusive approaches to education, the role of media and information policy in countering hate speech, engagement with vulnerable groups, and the potential of the Ukrainian experience to inform European discussions on tolerance and post-conflict recovery.
