New EU-funded Erasmus+ Programme Call 2022 for mobility and cooperation in education, training, youth and sport – OPEN!

Today, the Commission launched the calls for proposals under Erasmus+ call for 2022, following the adoption of the 2022 Annual Work Programme. With an increaced budget of nearly €3.9 billion for the next year, Erasmus+ will continue to provide opportunities for study periods abroad, traineeships, apprenticeships, and staff exchanges and cross border cooperation projects in different areas of education and training, youth and sport.

Vice-President for Promoting our European Way of Life, Margaritis SCHINAS, said: “The launch of the new 2022 Erasmus+ calls have a special resonance. 2022 will mark the 35 anniversary of the programme, but also the year dedicated to youth. Erasmus has been an unforgettable experience for many years, let 2022 be even more unforgettable! With this new Erasmus year, we hope to make the experience more inclusive and more far-reaching, for young people to learn and travel after many difficult months.”

Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya GABRIEL, said: “Next year Erasmus+ will be celebrating 35 years of successfully providing opportunities for people to study, learn and get training experience abroad. All participants say that it is a life-changing experience, one that marked their personal and professional paths and left lasting memories of what it means to live in the European Union. We want to give the opportunity to a greater number of people to take part and benefit from what Erasmus+ has to offer. We will also celebrate in 2022 the European Year of Youth and Erasmus+ will play a central role.”

The programme will continue to support young people and to encourage their participation in democratic life, contributing significantly to the objectives of the European Year of Youth 2022, which was announced in the State of the Union address in September 2021. The core activities of mobility and cooperation will also be strengthened in 2022.

The main novelties introduced in the calls launched today are: Forward-looking projects; More exchanges with third countries; More inclusive DiscoverEU; Bringing the EU closer to schools; Simpler financing of cooperation projects.
On 25 March 2021 the European Commission announced the official launching of new generation of the EU-funded Erasmus+ Programme for 2021-2027. Due to the Programme’s budget over €28 billion, the Erasmus+ will be not only international but more inclusive, more digital, and greener.

The updated Programme also aims to achieve cooperation, quality, inclusion, creativity and innovation at the level of organisations and policies in the field of education, training, youth and sport. Further to that, Erasmus+ 2021-2027 Jean Monnet Action will support teaching, learning, research, and debates on European integration matters, including on the Union’s future challenges and opportunities.
