Participation in European Education and Innovation Summit (23.06.2022, online)

On June 23, 2022, the NEO – Ukraine joined the European Education and Innovation Summit, held in a hybrid online and offline format in Brussels, Belgium. The Education and Innovation Summit brought together key actors from the world of Education and Innovation to share knowledge and inspiring experiences on innovative education practices and on building bridges between the education and higher education communities, and their surrounding innovation ecosystems. Together, participants discussed:

• the role of higher education institutions as drivers of innovation
• the importance of enabling creativity, stimulate vocations, and foster entrepreneurship competences of learners at all education levels
• concrete steps to enhance innovation in higher education teaching and learning

These exchanges provided input to the implementation and further development of innovation actions under the European Strategy for Universities and the upcoming Innovation Agenda.

Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, coordinator of NEO in Ukraine, joined the event and discussed the role of higher education institutions as drivers of innovation; the importance of developing students’ creativity and entrepreneurial abilities at all educational levels; steps to enhance innovation in teaching and learning in higher education. The NEO coordinator also joined the discussion session with European Commissioner Maria Gabriel and high-ranking speakers from across the EU focused on the rapid development of the education sector over the past 2 years in light of COVID-19 and martial law in Ukraine.
