Start of the II summer school “Revitalization of cities – the EU experience for Ukraine” (June 20, 2022, online)
On June 20, 2022, the first day of the Second Summer School was held online on the Teams platform as part of the implementation of the Jean Monnet Module “Urban Revitalization – EU Experience for Ukraine”.
The event was organized by Ivan Franko National University of Lviv in close cooperation with the National Erasmus + Office in Ukraine and the Department of Economic Policy of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
The event was attended by more than 50 participants who are students and teachers from different cities of Ukraine.
In his welcoming speech, Andriy Stasyshyn, Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Business Management of Ivan Franko Lviv National University, drew attention to the growing urgency of the summer school, because in a full-scale war with Russia, reconstruction will require not only post-industrial facilities and territories. suffering from hostilities.
Petro Krainik, Jean Monnet expert of the National Erasmus + Office in Ukraine, in his address supported the University’s efforts to implement European practices in the domestic realities and stressed the exceptional role of student youth in creating projects to restore a sovereign Ukraine.
The event was also attended by Natalia Sytnyk, Head of the Department of Financial Management, Professor, emphasizing the importance of financial aspects of revitalization programs and the need to find appropriate resources from diversified sources.
During the first day of the school, presentations were made by Olga Sych and Vira Kruglyakova – associate professors of the Department of Financial Management, members of the Jean Monnet Module project team. Issues of European urban development strategies, the role of the city and the principles of the European urban program (Urban Agenda) were covered, the attitude to the problems of cities in Ukraine was assessed based on a survey.
Orest Hryniv, Head of the Department of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Investment Policy of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, was a guest lecturer at the summer school. The speaker focused on such topical issues as the investment attractiveness of Lviv region, key areas of cooperation with the EU, strategies for the formation and operation of technology parks, as well as relocation of enterprises during the war. It is noted that building industrial capacity and supporting brownfield investments will contribute to the sustainable development of the region.
At the end of the training day, the participants got acquainted with an effective tool for developing a revitalization program – the European platform Urbact and received advice on the development of a revitalization project.
As a result of the event, participants got acquainted with the goals and programs of European cities, learned to compare urban development strategies in Ukraine and the EU, analyse the methods of launching a revitalization project, began preparing their own revitalization projects.
