Support to Ukraine on Research Infrastructures Policies within the PSF Country Review
The European Commission has launched a PSF Country Review for Ukraine, running from 7 June 2024 to 31 March 2025, aimed at providing high-level external advice and operational recommendations to support the strategic development of Ukraine’s research infrastructures.
The objective of the initiative is to assist Ukrainian authorities in focusing limited public resources on the development of modern, cutting-edge research infrastructures. These infrastructures are expected to become attractive hubs for both Ukrainian and European researchers, contributing to an increase in the quality and quantity of research and innovation output.
The review focuses on four key areas:
- Development of a comprehensive policy framework for the governance and effective management of public research infrastructures;
- Recommendations for an efficient and sustainable funding system for research infrastructures;
- Introduction of Open Science practices in the operations of research infrastructures;
- International integration of Ukrainian research infrastructures into the European Research Area (ERA).
This initiative is implemented under the European Commission’s Policy Support Facility (PSF) and represents a significant step in strengthening Ukraine’s research ecosystem and advancing its integration into the European Research Area in the post-war recovery context.
