Training on opportunities of the EU Erasmus+ Programme and eTwinning for the international cooperation of educational institutions in the Cherkasy community (20.02.2026, Cherkasy)
On February 20, 2026, the team from the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, together with the National Support Office for eTwinning – Ukraine, delivered a training session on the opportunities offered by the EU Erasmus+ Programme and eTwinning for strengthening the international cooperation of educational institutions in the Cherkasy community.
The event brought together representatives of the Cherkasy City Council, the Department of Education and Humanitarian Policy, the Centre for the Professional Development of Teachers, the Department of Economy and Development, heads of general secondary and vocational education institutions, representatives of student self-government bodies, and the Youth Council. The discussions focused on expanding international cooperation opportunities for educational institutions, young people, and the local sports community through grant competitions, international partnerships, mobility programmes, and professional development.
Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, presented the current opportunities of the EU Erasmus+ Programme in the fields of education, vocational education and training, youth, and sport. The training covered international academic and professional mobility, cooperation partnerships, capacity-building projects, and opportunities for obtaining EU grant funding. Particular attention was paid to the role of Erasmus+ in supporting the digital transformation of education, inclusive learning environments, and the integration of Ukrainian educational institutions into the European Education Area.
Svitlana KALASHNIKOVA, Member of the Erasmus+ Higher Education Reform Experts Team (HERE team) and Coordinator of the National Support Office for eTwinning – Ukraine, introduced participants to the opportunities offered by eTwinning as a European professional community for teachers. Participants learned about partner search tools, the implementation of international school projects, teachers’ professional development, and the use of innovative digital teaching methods.
The discussions also highlighted the successful experience of educational institutions in Cherkasy already actively participating in international educational initiatives and serving as eTwinning ambassadors. Participants emphasised the importance of expanding the participation of educational institutions across the community in the Erasmus+ Programme and eTwinning as key instruments for the internationalisation of education, the development of international partnerships, and the enhancement of educational quality.
