Training seminar on Erasmus+ ICM projects for IROs and institutional Erasmus+ coordinators (24.07.2025, Kharkiv, hybrid)
On 24 July 2025, a regional Training seminar on Erasmus+ ICM projects for IROs and institutional Erasmus+ coordinators within the EU Erasmus+ Programme was held in Kharkiv in a hybrid format. The event was designed for higher education staff responsible for international cooperation and academic mobility. It was organized in collaboration with the Union of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of the Kharkiv Region and the Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics. The seminar brought together 86 participants from Kharkiv and the Eastern region of Ukraine, including international relations officers, Erasmus+ coordinators, and other stakeholders.
The seminar opened with introductory remarks on the institutional impact of Erasmus+ international academic mobility projects by Volodymyr PONOMARENKO, Chairman of the Union of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of the Kharkiv Region and Rector of the Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics. Participants were then introduced to the rules and realities of implementing international academic mobility during martial law in a presentation by Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine, as well as institutional Erasmus+ coordinators from Ukrainian HEIs.
Special attention was paid to discussing the challenges of implementing Erasmus+ international academic mobility projects and recommendations for overcoming them. Participants analyzed problematic issues and presented specific cases, including:
-
HEI development strategies and institutional regulations regarding international academic mobility (processes and procedures);
-
Horizontal cooperation and the integration of Erasmus+ projects into educational and research activities;
-
Ensuring mobility and inclusion (involving underrepresented groups and supporting participants);
-
Recognition of mobility periods and results for students and staff within educational programs and professional development.
The seminar-training served as a vital platform for exchanging experiences, receiving practical recommendations, and strengthening the institutional capacity of higher education institutions to implement international academic mobility projects under challenging conditions. It also contributed to effective preparation for participation in upcoming EU Erasmus+ Programme calls.
