EU experience in teacher training in STREAM education (25.10.2023, online)

On 25.10.2023, the STREAM project team “Best practices EU in STREAM education for pre-service teachers” conducted a training for practitioners “EU experience in teacher training in STREAM education”. The event was held as part of the in-service training programme for teachers of the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv “Modern ICT in the Professional Activity of a Teacher” at the Educational and Research Institute of Retraining and Advanced Training of the Dragomanov Ukrainian State University in cooperation with the STREAM project “Best practices EU in STREAM education for pre-service teachers” under the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module programme.

 About 150 practicing teachers from the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv joined the event.

 During the event, Oksana STRUTYNSKA, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Information Technology and Programming at the Dragomanov Ukrainian State University, made a presentation. The speaker focused on such topical issues as modern digital trends in education, priority areas of education development in the EU, EU digital resources for teaching and learning STEM/STEAM/STREAM, virtual laboratories and the possibilities of their use in STEM/STEAM/STREAM education.

During the event, the participants learned about the directions of development of EU digital transformation of education, got acquainted with the structure of the EU digital competence for educators and tools for its measurement (in particular, on the “Diia” portal using the Tsyphogram tool), the main provisions of the EU Digital Education Action Plan, the EU eTwinning curriculum for schools and the possibility of participation of Ukrainian educators in it, the EU online courses for continuous training of educators “European Schoolnet Academy”, etc.

            

Project information:

Project title: “Best practices EU in STREAM education for pre-service teachers” (STREAM) under the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module program (101098885 – ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH-UA-IBA).

The main objectives of the project are: to develop innovative educational materials and tools to meet the needs of young people in order to promote a better understanding of the EU and its main policies and values; to improve the training of highly qualified STREAM professionals ready to work in the European digital society; to raise awareness of the EU and EU best practices in STREAM education among Ukrainian educators; developing curricula based on EU best practices in STREAM education.

Main objectives of the project: development of a new training module “EU best practices in STREAM education” for students and pre-service teachers; targeted training for more than 190 educators on EU best practices in STREAM education; holding a seminar, a final international conference (based on the project results); preparation of professional scientific publications; development of a STREAM project portfolio database.
