Workshop “EU Standards on Free Movement of Goods, Services and People: Experience for Ukraine” (13.03.2025, online / offline)

On March 13, 2025 Vasyl’ Stus Donetsk National University organised workshop “EU Standards on Free Movement of Goods, Services and People: Experience for Ukrainian” within implementation of the EU-funded Programme Erasmus+ Jean Monnet project “Free Movement of Goods, Services and People: EU Experience for Ukraine” 101127358 – FREEGOOD – ERASMUS-JMO-2023-HEI-TCH-RSCH.

The event was jointly organised by Department of Constitutional, International and Criminal Law, Vasyl’ Stus Donetsk National University and the Educational and Scientific Institute of Academic Potential Development.

More than 40 participants, including judges, attorneys, students, state authorities’ and business entities’ representatives, academics and lecturers, proactive youth joined the event.

In welcome speech Serhii RADIO, Vice-Rector, Vasyl’ Stus Donetsk Natiоnal University, Roman PETROV, Honorable President of the Ukrainian European Studies Association, Head of the Department of International and European Law, National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Doctor of Law,  Professor; Volodymyr USTYMENKO, Head of V. Mamutov Institute of Economic and Legal Research of the NAS of Ukraine, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences and National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Law,  Professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine; Vieha KULIAVETS, Deputy Director-Head of the Department of Trade, Services and Tourism, Department of International Cooperation and Regional Development of  Vinnytsia State Administration, and Ella DERKACH, Project Coordinator, Vasyl’ Stus Donetsk Natiоnal University, welcomed participants and presented project team, project goals and objectives, project activities and expected results. 

Illya KHADZHYNOV, Rector of Vasyl’ Stus Donetsk Natiоnal University, outlined recent trends in Ukraine-EU trade and economic cooperation. Ella DERKACH, Professor, Department of Constitutional, International and Criminal Law, Vasyl’ Stus Donetsk Natiоnal University highlighted the EU standards on free movement of goods and services, underlined challenges and trends for Ukraine. Olha TURCHENKO, Chair of the Department of Constitutional, International and Criminal Law, stressed on labor rights of non-EU nationals in the EU. Liliya AMELICHEVA, Professor, Department of Сivil Law and Procedure, reported on free labor movement in the context of Ukraine’s integration to the EU.

As a result of the event, the following outcomes were achieved: dissemination of theoretical and practical information regarding the EU standards on free movement of goods, services and persons, the directions for approximating Ukrainian legislation to EU acquis were discussed
