The European Union offers great opportunities for Ukrainian education: how to take advantage of the opportunity
In November 2024, the NEO-Ukraine team, with the support of the European Union, joined the live broadcast of TSN TV channel 1+1 as part of the communication campaign “Together We Learn and Grow”, presenting the EUs Erasmus+ Programme, its opportunities, results and impact at the individual, institutional and national levels as a key tool to support education, youth and sports in the European Union.
“The European Commission has provided more opportunities in response to Ukraine’s requests. We have opened almost 40 calls for proposals for Ukrainian organizations working in education, youth and sports. Higher education has the largest number of projects – more than a thousand in various fields, which makes it possible to study the experience of European colleagues, improve the skills of their staff, and involve students and pupils in educational projects and trainings. The projects are also funded by other organizations. If it is the modernization of educational programs, labour marketare also involved. The developed modern technologies will allow students to be employed in the future,” said Svitlana Shytikova.
Svitlana Shytikova, Coordinator of the National Erasmus Office in Ukraine, added that the infrastructure component of universities is also important. As an example, she cited medical care trainings with the participation of specialists and the provision of simulation equipment, in particular, at the Academy of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, which helps students learn skills better.
Svitlana Shytikova also said that at the stage of designing an idea for submission to the competition, there is an additional option to involve educational institutions that have transferred from the occupied territories of Ukraine. This status gives additional points when the European Commission selects funding applications. Thanks to previous programs, institutions purchased equipment and created innovation laboratories. Within the framework of Erasmus+, relocated educational institutions also received substantial assistance in resuming their work. Representatives of such universities also gained practical knowledge abroad.
