Best Leadership And Career Practices For Young People Within The DP5YOU Project (13.08.2025, Chernivtsi)
On 13 August, the Chernivtsi City Council hosted a Youth Platform dedicated to International Youth Day, organised by the NGO “YOUTH. SCIENCE. SPORT. HEALTHY MOVEMENT OF UKRAINE” in cooperation with partners.
The aim of the event was to discuss the role of leadership and career in the lives of modern youth, as well as to present the European Union’s international project “Digital Platform of Knowledge and Skills Development for Youth Working with Child Migrants and Refugees at European Level” (DP5YOU), co-funded by the EU under the Erasmus+ programme.
The event began with a welcome speech by the Deputy Director of the Social Policy Department of the Chernivtsi City Council, Marina Skrypnyk, who greeted the participants and emphasised that young people are the driving force behind positive change in the community and the state.
The head of the public organisation, candidate of physical education and sports sciences, associate professor Iaroslav Galan presented the key aspects of the DP5YOU project, spoke about the activities already carried out within the framework of the organisation’s best practices, and outlined plans for the future. He called on young people to actively join the initiatives and subscribe to the project’s news.
The guest of honour at the event was Ruslan Biloskurskyi, rector of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, professor and Doctor of Economics, who emphasised in his speech that leadership and career development are processes that require vision, perseverance and a strategic approach.
The speaker presented a step-by-step model for developing a successful leader and identified the key stages of personal and professional growth.
Yana Melnyk, chair of the Youth Parliament Youth Council at Chernivtsi City Council, spoke about the council’s activities and successful initiatives and invited active young people in the city to get involved in joint projects and events.
Among those present were also the Deputy Head of the Department for Family and Youth Affairs of the Social Policy Department of the Chernivtsi City Council, Lesia Karmach, and the Head of the Youth Policy Division of the same department, Igor Basko, who supported the platform’s initiatives and noted the importance of cooperation between young people, the authorities and the public sector.
At the end of the official part, participants received personalised certificates and souvenirs as part of the DP5YOU project.
The second part of the programme took place at the Youth Centre “Residence of Youth”, where an exclusive creative pack for shopper networking was held. Among the participants of the event was a member of the organisation’s board, candidate of physical education and sports sciences, associate professor Svitlana Duditska, who presented an honorary prize to one of the participants on behalf of the organisation. Also present was the organisation’s administrative employee and project participant Liliana Hutsuliak. In a warm and creative atmosphere, young people created their own unique designs, exchanged ideas and made new acquaintances.
The event was attended by 40 participants, active young people from the city united by a common desire for development, leadership and new opportunities.
The Youth Platform has become not only a place for inspiration and discussion of current issues, but also a space for creating new connections, developing leadership skills and finding career opportunities for young people in Chernivtsi.
