European Commission session devoted to Ukraine at EAIE (19.09.2024, Toulouse, France)
19.09.2024, Toulouse, France. Speaial session was initiated and organised by the European Commission DGEAC team devoted to the support to Ukraine during Martial law.
The session was moderated by the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine Coordinator, Svitlana Shytikova. As the introduction, moderator presented shortly the situation in education and the status of Erasmus+ Programme in Ukraine (download presentation). Svitlana Shytikova highlighted on the importance of the initiative of the Ukrainian students – Unissued Diplomas, presented during the EAIE exhibition and requested other organisations to host this initiative during their events to remind about the price paid by young generation who defend the common values.
Filip VAN DEPOELE, Head of International Cooperation Unit, DG EAC, European Commission provided an overview of EU support to Ukraine in the area of higher education, including the support for DigiUni project setting up an online higher education platform in UA and the MSCA4Ukraine initiative.
Kseniia Smyrnova, Vice Recor of Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv shared the experience of implementation of the DigiUni project – largest initiative supported by the European Commission as a respond to the challenges and consequences of war to develop Ukrainian Ecosystem (download presentation).
Nataliya Butych, Regional Coordinator Eastern Europe, Strategic Partnership, Leibniz University Hannover (LUH) presented own experience of supporting Ukrainian universities, students and staff, including as part of the DigiUni project (download presentation).
Natalyia Oliynyk from Kharkiv Karazin National University presented shortly 2 examples of the EU funded projects and their specifics during martial law (download presentation).
The session was followed by the Q&A and opportunity for Ukrainian universities to share their experience and to discuss with the participants the situation in Ukraine’s education.
The interest from the EAIE conference participants to this session was high, including from the European Universities Alliances and other international partners.
