Introductory Speech at the Final Conference of the Erasmus+ CBHE Open4UA Project (04-06.06.2026, Kyiv)
On 4-6 June 2026, the team from the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine participated in the final conference of the Erasmus+ CBHE Open4UA project “Open Science for the Ukrainian Higher Education System”, held in a hybrid format at the H. I. Denysenko Scientific and Technical Library of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. The event brought together representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Ukrainian and European higher education institutions, research organisations, international experts, and Open4UA project partners to discuss the development of open science, research assessment reform, and Ukraine’s integration into the European Research Area.
The forum programme addressed the development of open science policies, research assessment reform, the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA), the implementation of Open4UA project results, international cooperation, and European initiatives supporting open science. Particular attention was paid to the newly established Coordination Council on Open Science under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the further development of the national research infrastructure.
As part of the opening session, Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, delivered an introductory speech highlighting the importance of the EU Erasmus+ Programme in supporting higher education reforms, strengthening international academic cooperation, and implementing Capacity Building in Higher Education projects. She also emphasised the contribution of the Open4UA project to promoting open science principles and advancing the integration of Ukraine’s higher education and research system into the European Education Area and the European Research Area.
The final conference provided a platform for presenting the results of the Open4UA project, discussing the next steps in advancing open science in Ukraine, and strengthening cooperation between Ukrainian and European partners.
