IV International Conference “Development of Internal Quality Assurance Systems in Ukrainian HEIs: Achievements and Challenges – External and Internal Perspectives”  (05.12.2024, Hybrid Format)

On 5 December 2024, the IV International Conference “Development of Internal Quality Assurance Systems in Ukrainian HEIs: Achievements and Challenges – External and Internal Perspectives” took place. The joint event is organised by Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, the National Qualifications Agency, the Institute of Higher Education, the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine.

Conference Topics:

  • The role of universities in ensuring the quality of higher education in Ukraine (perspectives from state and public institutions).
  • Cooperation among universities in quality assurance.
  • Internationalisation as a catalyst for quality assurance in universities.
  • Quality priorities for the labour market.

Panel 1. The Role of Universities in Higher Education Quality Assurance In Ukraine (Perspectives from State and Public Institutions) became a platform for exchanging views and identifying challenges and prospects for the quality of Ukrainian higher education by public officials and figures, including Serhiy BABAK, Chair of the Parliament’s Committee on Education, Science and Innovation, Yuriy BALANYUK, Head of the National Qualifications Agency, Andriy BUTENKO, Chair of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, Oleksandr YAKIMENKO, First Deputy Head of the State Service for Education Quality of Ukraine, Oleh SHAROV, HERE team, Director General of the Directorate of Higher, Vocational Pre-Tertiary Education, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and Olha BUDNYK, President’s Advisor on the Presidential Foundation for Support of Education, Science and Sport.

The problems identified by Panel 2. Interaction of Universities in Education Quality Assurance were discussed by Rectors and Vice-Rectors of leading higher education institutions of Ukraine.

Within the framework of Panel 3. Internationalization a Catalyst for Education Quality Assurance in Universities, the discussion was attended by Tine DELVA, Deputy Head of Unit, the Higher Education Department of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education and Culture (DG EAC), Arjen DEIJ, Senior Human Capital Development Expert – Coordinator for Qualifications Modernisation Project, Policy and Public Outreach Department, European Training Foundation, Philipp WEINMANN Consultant for Monitoring and Evaluation, University of Konstanz, Graham HARRISON, Managing Director of EUniWell (European University for Well-Being) and Coordinator of the NEO – Ukraine Svitlana SHYTIKOVA and Analytic Manager Zhanna TALANOVA.

Participants of Panel 4. Priorities in the Education Quality for the Labor Market – representatives of employers from various sectors of the economy focused on current problems of competitiveness of graduates of higher education institutions, interaction between higher education and the labor market in Ukraine.

The offline event was attended by more than 40 participants and speakers at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and international speakers and about 200 participants online. Also, about 700 views of the video recording.

The event was performed as a follow up of the TAM event.

Based on the outcomes of the conference, it is planned to publish an Electronic Proceedings of Abstracts of the IV International Conference “Development of Internal Quality Assurance Systems in Higher Education Institutions of Ukraine: Achievements and Challenges – External and Internal Perspectives”.
