What are Virtual Exchanges?
Virtual exchanges in higher education and youth are online, people-to-people activities designed to foster intercultural dialogue and enhance soft skills. They provide young people with access to high-quality international and cross-cultural education, both formal and non-formal, without the need for physical mobility. While virtual exchanges do not fully replace the benefits of in-person experiences, they still offer valuable opportunities for global learning and engagement.
How do Virtual Exchanges work?
- Conducted in small groups and facilitated by trained moderators.
- Easily integrated into higher education courses and youth projects.
- Open to participants from either or both sectors, depending on the project.
Who can participate?
Projects under this call will include organisations and participants from:
- EU Member States and third countries associated with the Programme.
- Third countries not associated with the Programme from eligible regions, including:
- Western Balkans
- Eastern Neighbourhood
- South-Mediterranean countries
- Sub-Saharan Africa
A full list of eligible countries is available in the Erasmus+ Programme Guide 2025.
