International Scientific and Practical Conference “Ensuring the Principle of Child’s Dignity: Counteracting Violent Methods of Upbringing” within the framework of the Erasmus+ project (24-25.04.2025, online/offline)

On 24-25 April 2025, Odesa State University of Internal Affairs held an International Scientific and Practical Conference “Ensuring the Principle of Child’s Dignity: Counteracting Violent Methods of Upbringing”. The event was held within the framework of the project of the European Union Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Program “Nonviolent Education Practices: EU Experience”.

The event was attended by more than 200 participants, including MPs of Ukraine, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, the Department of Labor and Social Policy of the Odesa City Council, the Department of Education and Science of the Odesa City Council, the Council of Europe, the EU Advisory Mission, NGO La Strada-Ukraine, NGO All-Ukrainian Public Center Volunteer, the community of lawyers, academic staff of Ukrainian and foreign educational institutions, students, and others.

The event was opened by the Rector of the State Department of Internal Affairs Viacheslav DAVYDENKO, Deputy Director of the Department of Education, Science and Sports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Vadym PIANKOVSKYI, Senior Project Manager of the Council of Europe “Protection of Children’s Rights during the War and Post-War Period in Ukraine” Olha KALASHNYK, Advisor/Trainer on Police-Community Relations of the European Union Advisory Mission Jan DANCHO, Head of the Juvenile Prevention Department of the National Police of Ukraine Vasyl BOHDAN, Head of the Department for Organization of the Educational Security Service of the National Police of Ukraine Nadiya SYTNYK; representative of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights in Odesa Oblast Maria POPOVA.

During the event, the participants listened to speakers and discussed the problems of legal support for the protection of children from violence, psychological aspects of attacks on the dignity of the child, the role of professionals and the public for a safe childhood, and parenting practices in the cultural experience of Ukraine and the EU.
