Information Day on Erasmus+ Learning Mobility Actions (18.11.16, Kyiv, Ukraine)
On 18 November 2016, in the framwork of the National Week of Erasmus+ Programme, the Information Day on Erasmus+ Learning Mobility Actions was held by the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine in close cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Support Group to Ukraine under European Commission, Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), EU Delegation to Ukraine under organizational support of the University KROK.
The event was divided into two separate information sessions: 1) for Higher Education Institutions interested in cooperation with European universities within Erasmus+ KA1 projects, and 2) for participants of the educational process – students, alumni, faculty and administrative staff of Ukrainian higher education institutions who are interested on individual opportunities for study and research within EU programmes.
Participants of the event were welcomed by the honorable speakers Nadiia Vertebna, Member of the Support Group for Ukraine, the European Commission, Liubov Shchitka, Deputy Head – Head of International Educational Projects, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Svitlana Shytikova, Director of the National Erasmus + Office in Ukraine (EU project), Andrii Kuchko, First Vice-Rector, University KROK.
Speakers emphasized the importance of the EU Erasmus+ Programme and its correspondence to the national needs of higher education in Ukraine, emphasized the exceptional opportunities which are now open through academic mobility for Ukrainians, especially young people, to improve their education, obtain new education and develop professionally within the EU Programme Erasmus+ as well as within other EU education programmes, numerous international university scholarships and government programmes of foreign countries.
During the First information session, about 120 representatives of higher education institutions in Ukraine had an opportunity to get information on the positive participation tendency of Ukrainian universitites in international credit mobility (ICM) projects Erasmus+ KA1 based on the results of the 2015 and 2016 Calls; the 2017 Call participation conditions, recommendations for preparation of successful proposals for Erasmus+ KA1; the principles of effective university partnership for effective implementation of Erasmus+ KA1 projects – all that was presented by Ivanna Atamanchuk, Mobility Programme Manager, NEO Ukraine. Kateryna Zhdanova, Individual Opportunites Manager, NEO Ukraine focused on the role and responsibilities of International Relations Departments in Ukrainian higher education institutions for effective implementation of Erasmus+ KA1 projects with a special focal point on student (other participants) – focused approaches and the Programme requirement to conduct ICM competitions openly, equally and widely accessibly for selection of ICM participants. Active participants of the Erasmus+ KA1 projects – Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Olha Antonova, Leading Specialist of International Cooperation Department) and National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” (Larysa Chovniuk, Head of International Cooperation Department) – shared with the audience their valuable experience and practical vision as for E+ KA1 successful projects, communication with EU universities during E+KA1 project preparation, signing project documentation, ways and mechanisms of conducting competitions for the selection of credit mobility participants etc.
More than 140 students, teachers and administrative staff of higher education institutions that participated in the Second information session learned about their individual opportunities within Erasmus+ Credit Mobility open calls for proposals, Joint Master / Doctoral (PhD) Programmes. Karina Shakhbazyan, representative of the Center for Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer of the National Academy of Sciences, National Contact Point for Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions on skills, training and career development (Horizon 2020) and Olesya Kompaniets, Manager of Educational Projects, British Council in Ukraine draw attention of the participants to the learning opportunities and research scholarships suggested by the EU Programme Horizon 2020 and UK Government Programmes, as well as by some British leading universities.
The Information Day on International Academic Mobility was rapped up by the Ukrainian students participating in ICM – Oleksander Kul and Mariia Markovska and graduates of Erasmus+: Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Programmes – Oleksander Ivanov, Anna Shumeiko and Elizaveta Chorna, who shared their own experiences of participation and winning in competitions of Erasmus+ to be enrolled in Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Programmes and study at European universities, as well as the positive influence of Erasmus+ on their personal development, as well as on further academic and professional achievements.
