ERASMUS+ INFORMATION DAY IN EDUCATION: Higher Education, Jean Monnet and Adult Education (02.04.2025, online)
On December 2, 2025, the team of the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine held the ERASMUS+ INFORMATION DAY IN EDUCATION: Higher Education, Jean Monnet and Adult Education. The events within the framework of the Erasmus+ EU Programme Information Weeks were organised with the support of the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), in cooperation with the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the National eTwinning Support Office, the Erasmus+ Youth and European Solidarity Corps Information Centre, Erasmus Student Network – Ukraine, and Erasmus Mundus Association – Ukraine.
More than 235 representatives of all types of organisations from across Ukraine (public, civil society, and private) working in the fields of higher education and adult education from different regions of Ukraine took part in the event.

In his welcome address, Mykola TROFYMENKO, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, emphasised the strategic importance of international cooperation for the development of Ukrainian higher education and adult education, in particular the role of the EU in supporting reforms and expanding opportunities for Ukrainian institutions.
In the first part of the event, Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, in her presentation introduced the first steps for organisations’ participation in the Erasmus+ Programme and provided a detailed overview of available resources for newcomers, including the Programme Guide and official Programme portals. She emphasised the analysis of existing experience and examples of successful projects, explained how to assess opportunities and organisational compliance with the requirements of specific calls. In addition, the speaker provided practical advice on partner search and organising effective interaction among stakeholders during application preparation, outlined key stages and elements to be considered in order to meet selection criteria as fully as possible.
Kateryna ZHDANOVA, Senior Manager at the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, in her presentation explained the key online resources of the Erasmus+ Programme, including the main application portals and organisation registration tools such as PIC and OID. She demonstrated in detail how to complete registration, set up an organisational profile, and check compliance with eligibility criteria for participation in calls.
Veronika IVANOVA, Manager at the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, highlighted cooperation projects and partner engagement tools for international programmes, examined key requirements for project applications and evaluation criteria in detail. The speaker also presented in detail the stages of preparing the PIF and Concept Note as key instruments for partner search and project application preparation.
In the following part of the event, Kateryna ZHDANOVA explained the minimum requirements for partnerships and the objectives of academic exchanges, emphasised key differences in participation for students and staff of education institutions, and demonstrated in detail the main elements of the application form that must be taken into account when preparing a successful proposal. She provided practical advice on how to increase the chances of successful participation in the Programme, taking into account the specifics of Ukrainian institutions and experience in international projects.
Zhanna TALANOVA, Deputy Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, presented a similar overview for the Erasmus Mundus call. She outlined the specifics of partnership building, application preparation, and key selection criteria, with particular emphasis on compliance with Ukrainian legislation in the field of higher education. The speaker provided recommendations on preparing applications that meet both international call requirements and national regulatory standards, to ensure high-quality implementation of Erasmus Mundus projects.
Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, in her presentation highlighted key aspects of cooperation projects and capacity building in higher education. She provided detailed information on participation requirements, the structure of application forms, the ECHE certificate, objectives and tasks of the calls, as well as existing experience in implementing similar initiatives in Ukraine and the EU to ensure synergy between projects. In addition, Shytikova focused on application evaluation criteria, emphasising how compliance with these criteria affects the effectiveness of project implementation and achievement of results in the context of improving the quality of higher education.
Olha OSEREDCHUK, Project Manager of the Erasmus+ DigiTrans project, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, shared practical experience in preparing project applications on digital transformation within the Capacity Building in Higher Education call, and provided tips and advice for new applicants.
Petro KRAINIK, Manager at the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, spoke about opportunities for developing European Studies within the Jean Monnet strand, the specifics of the three key opportunities and call requirements, emphasised application preparation and selection criteria, and shared advice on effective project implementation.
Oleh PASKO, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor, Ukrainian Catholic University, presented experience in preparing project applications in the field of European Studies, inspiring participants with practical recommendations and successful project cases.
At the conclusion of the event, Svitlana SHYTIKOVA and Veronika IVANOVA presented open opportunities for Ukraine in the fields of Alliances for Innovation and European University Alliances, as well as in adult education, answered participants’ questions, and provided consultations on further participation in the programmes.
As a result of the event, participants learned how to navigate the Programme Guide and Erasmus+ Programme portals, analyse existing experience, develop project concepts and PIFs, identify potential partners, plan participation in academic mobility programmes, virtual exchanges, cooperation projects, Jean Monnet actions, and Alliances for Innovation, as well as effectively interact with representatives of the National Erasmus+ Office and international organisations.
