ERASMUS+ INFORMATION DAY IN EDUCATION: (Pre)School Education and Adult Education (04.12.2025, online)
On December 4, 2025, the team of the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine held the ERASMUS+ INFORMATION DAY IN EDUCATION: (Pre)School Education and Adult Education. The events within the framework of the Erasmus+ EU Programme Information Weeks were organised with the support of the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), in cooperation with the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the National eTwinning Support Office, the Erasmus+ Youth and European Solidarity Corps Information Centre, Erasmus Student Network – Ukraine, and Erasmus Mundus Association – Ukraine.
More than 45 representatives of all types of organisations (public, civil society, and private) working in the field of (pre)school education from different regions of Ukraine took part in the event.

In his welcome address, Adrien OLSZAK-OLSZEWSKI, Policy Officer for Ukraine, DG EAC – The Directorate General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture, European Commission (DG EAC, Brussels), emphasised the strategic role of international cooperation as a key factor in the development of (pre)school education and adult education in the European context. He underlined that participation in joint European initiatives contributes to improving the quality of education, introducing innovative pedagogical approaches, developing digital and civic competences, and strengthening the resilience of education systems in times of crisis. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of Ukraine’s involvement in EU programmes as a tool to support reforms, recovery, and further European integration of the education sector.
In his presentation, Roman HLADKOVSKYI, Acting Head of the Education Content Unit of the School Education Directorate at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, focused on the importance of international partnerships for updating school curricula. He outlined state education policy priorities aimed at improving the quality of learning, adapting educational programmes to contemporary challenges and societal needs, and highlighted the role of European cooperation programmes in supporting teachers’ professional development, exchanging best practices, and implementing innovations at the national level.
In the first part of the event, Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, presented the first steps for organisations’ participation in the Erasmus+ Programme and provided a detailed overview of available resources for newcomers, including the Programme Guide and official Programme portals. She stressed the importance of analysing existing experience and examples of successful projects, explained how to assess opportunities and organisational eligibility for specific calls, and offered practical advice on partner search and organising effective cooperation among stakeholders during application preparation. She also outlined key stages and elements requiring particular attention in order to meet selection criteria as fully as possible.
Kateryna ZHDANOVA, Senior Manager at the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, explained the key online resources of the Erasmus+ Programme, including the main application portals and organisation registration tools such as PIC and OID. She demonstrated in detail how to complete registration, set up an organisational profile, and check compliance with eligibility criteria for calls.
Veronika IVANOVA, Manager at the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, covered cooperation projects and partner engagement tools for international programmes, examined key requirements for project applications and evaluation criteria in detail, and presented the stages of preparing the PIF and Concept Note as key instruments for partner search and project application preparation.
Within the session “Open Opportunities for Ukraine in the Field of School Education: Inter-project Cooperation and Cooperation Projects”, Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, presented in detail the key aspects of participation of school institutions in the Erasmus+ Programme. She emphasised the importance of close cooperation between schools, vocational education institutions, and universities that train future teachers, noting that such interaction creates a solid basis for implementing the results of inter-project cooperation, as well as for updating and modernising educational programmes. In addition, Svitlana Shytikova explained practical mechanisms for application preparation, requirements for project proposals, and evaluation criteria, demonstrating how inter-project cooperation and curriculum renewal can be integrated into schools’ strategic plans, ensuring sustainable development of the teaching community and improving the quality of educational services.
In the following part of the event, Kateryna ZHDANOVA presented information relevant to the field of school education, given that this sector works directly with young people and is actively involved in the implementation of international educational initiatives. In her presentation, she explained the minimum requirements for youth and youth worker exchanges, as well as the objectives and expected outcomes of such learning mobilities. Particular attention was paid to key differences in participation for various target groups, which is critically important during project planning. In addition, the speaker presented in detail the main elements of the application form to be considered when preparing a proposal and provided practical recommendations for increasing the chances of success in competitive selection, taking into account the specifics of Ukrainian organisations and existing national experience.
Liubov SHCHITKA, Manager of the National eTwinning Support Office – Ukraine, within the session “Open Opportunities for Ukraine in Education: eTwinning”, presented current opportunities of the platform for Ukrainian schools and teachers. She provided detailed statistical data on the participation of Ukrainian institutions in eTwinning projects, highlighted practical experience in implementing joint international learning projects, and demonstrated effective approaches to organising inter-school cooperation. The speaker also emphasised the benefits of the platform for enhancing teachers’ professional competences, exchanging methodological materials, and developing students’ digital skills, which contributes to modernising curricula and integrating the results of international cooperation into the daily educational practice of Ukrainian schools.
Within the session “Open Opportunities for Ukraine in Adult Education”, Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, together with Lorenza VENTURI, Martina BLASI, and Fiammetta MICHELACCI from the Erasmus+ National Agency of Italy, presented a comprehensive overview of Erasmus+ Programme opportunities for organisations working in the field of adult education. The Italian experts provided a detailed overview of cooperation projects in this field, aimed at improving the quality of work, activities, and practices of the organisations and institutions involved, as well as opening up opportunities for new actors that are not usually engaged in educational activities. Emphasis was placed on building organisations’ capacity to operate at a transnational and cross-sectoral level and on addressing common needs and priorities in education, training, youth, and sport. The speakers highlighted that such projects ensure transformation and change at individual, institutional, and sectoral levels, contributing to the improvement and implementation of new approaches proportionate to the context of each organisation. Significant attention was also paid to practical aspects of preparing applications, key requirements for application forms, evaluation criteria, and existing experience of successful projects, which can serve as guidance for Ukrainian institutions and increase the effectiveness of implementing Programme initiatives.
