International Contact Webinar: Supporting Ukrainian Sport (07.03.2023, online)

On 7 March 2023, the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Ukraine together with the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine, in close cooperation with Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC), the European Executive Agency for Education and Culture (Brussels), the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and the Sports Committee of Ukraine organised International Contact Webinar: Supporting Ukrainian Sport.

The main aim of the Contact Webinar was to help Ukrainian organisations find EU partners to seize opportunities for cooperation and apply together to new Erasmus+ calls, relevant for Ukrainian sport organisations. The webinar included a general session on opportunities, thematic working group and speed networking sessions to create links for further joint projects within the Erasmus+ programme.

More than 115 representatives of non-governmental and state organisations, associations and federations, higher education institutions and other organisations working in the field of sport from 20 countries of the world took part in the event.

During the first plenary session, Andriy CHESNOKOV, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine for European Integration, addressed the participants with a welcome speech, presenting the national policy and current needs in the field of sports at the national level. Georg HÄUSLER, Director, European Commission, Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture, expressed his support and emphasized the importance of the participation of Ukrainian organizations in joint projects with European partners. Floor van HOUDT, European Commission, Head of Unit Sport, DG EAC, highlighted the European Union’s priorities in the field of sports through the implementation of Erasmus+ projects. Yves Le LOSTECQUE, Head of Unit Erasmus Mundus and Sport presented the opportunities for cooperation and the specifics of the participation of Ukrainian partners within Erasmus+ projects in the field of sports. The plenary session was moderated by Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine.

The second plenary session was dedicated on how to write successful proposals with Ukrainian partners under Cooperation Partnership Action in Sport.

Speakers of the session Vincenzina VINCI and Izabela PELCZYNSKA, EACEA presented key aspects of the opportunities for cooperation: objectives and priorities, eligibility and award criteria, registration on the FTOP portal, search for partners and ideas, internal communication, as well as the specifics of the participation of the organization from Ukraine as a Partner Country. The second session was moderated by Luciano di FONZO, Deputy Head of Unit Erasmus Mundus and Sport, EACEA.

After the presentations, participants of the event joined Speed Networking session to build new links and discussed cooperation for the future joint initiatives and projects.

At the end of the event, Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, NEO – Ukraine, and Natalya RADCHUK, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and European Integration of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, underlined specifics of cooperation with organizations from Ukraine during the martial law and draw attention to the importance of the synergy with other initiatives.

The participants of the webinar shared their impressions and expressed their hope for close cooperation and opening of new opportunities to support Ukraine in the field of sports.
