Pre-Departure Meeting for Erasmus Mundus Scholarship Holders (17.07.2026, online)
On 17 July 2026, the team from the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, together with the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, organised a Pre-Departure Meeting for Erasmus Mundus Scholarship Holders. The annual Pre-Departure Orientation brought together Ukrainian students selected for the Erasmus Mundus scholarship programme in 2026, programme alumni, and representatives of partner organisations to prepare participants for their studies at European universities.
During the meeting, participants received information on studying within Erasmus Mundus, practical aspects of preparing for departure, academic mobility arrangements, university requirements, visa procedures, accommodation, insurance, and adaptation to the international academic environment. Particular attention was paid to logistics and safety issues for Ukrainian students under the current martial law conditions, as well as to the availability of advisory support throughout their studies.
Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine, delivered the introductory speech and presentation on the opportunities offered by the EU Erasmus+ Programme and its key priorities. She highlighted that the Programme is based on the principles of inclusion, openness, accessibility, digital and green transformation, and shared European values. Participants were introduced to the different Erasmus+ support instruments, including scholarship opportunities, international academic mobility, youth exchanges, and grant schemes. She also emphasised the important role of students as ambassadors of Ukraine and Ukrainian education in the international academic community and encouraged them to maintain links with the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies.

During the meeting, Erasmus Mundus alumni shared their experiences of studying, undertaking internships, and adapting to university life in Europe, while representatives of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) presented the opportunities available to international students through local ESN sections. A substantial part of the event was dedicated to answering participants’ questions on documentation, visa procedures, accommodation, study organisation, and other practical aspects of preparing for academic mobility.
The meeting reaffirmed the importance of comprehensive support for Ukrainian Erasmus Mundus scholarship holders and provided a platform for exchanging experience, establishing professional connections, and preparing students for successful studies within the European Higher Education Area.
