Open Online Round Table on Academic Mobility During the War (09.02.2023, online)
On 9 February 2023, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv together with the participation of the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine organised Open Online Round Table “Academic Mobility During the War”. Representatives of leading Ukrainian universities identified common problems and challenges in the implementation of academic mobility and together with the National Erasmus+ office in Ukraine discussed ways to solve them.
In her congratulatory speech, the vice-rector for international cooperation of KNU Ksenia SMIRNOVA, Vice-rector for international cooperation of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, noted that the full-scale invasion of the russian into Ukraine caused the intensification of academic mobility among both students and staff. And, if in the first months this process was chaotic, then later HEIs managed to organize and systematize the work in this action. Round table was designed to help determine priorities for the future, concidering possible outflow of students and staff and maintaining the stability of the higher education system of Ukraine.
Lilia HALYCH, Head of the Academic Mobility Department of of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv; Serhiy RIZHNYK, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and International Cooperation of the Ivan Franko National University; Larisa CHOVNIUK, Head of the International Cooperation Department of National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy”; Olga DEMYDENKO, Head of the Academic Mobility Department of National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, spoke about innovations and provided cases on non-standard solutions for the implementation of academic mobility in the during the martial law. Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, NEO – Ukraine Coordinator joined the event with presentation on exeprional measures for Ukraine and key recommendations on mobility projects implementation durign the war. The participants also discussed the issue of recognizing the results of student mobility and improving the internationalization of Ukrainian higher education institutions.Based on the results of the round table, participants agreed on the development of recommendations for making changes to normative documents regarding academic mobility of both Ukraine and the European Union.
