Implementation of best practices within the DP5YOU project has begun: young people are creating change for children (24.07.2025, Chernivtsi)

On 24 July, a sports and educational event was held at the Oikos children’s camp of the Chernivtsi City Council for children from vulnerable groups. The Social Policy Department of the Chernivtsi City Council and the camp administration organized the event jointly.

The event was implemented as part of the European Union project ERASMUS-YOUTH-2024-CB entitled: “Digital Platform of Knowledge and Skills Development for Youth Working with Child Migrants and Refugees at European Level” (DP5YOU). This activity is part of our organisation’s implementation of best practices to support children, their socialisation, emotional well-being, and health.

The event aimed to promote physical activity, a healthy lifestyle, recreational activities, and national and European values among children vacationing at the camp.

The opening ceremony began with a speech by camp director Mykyta Borovyk, who emphasised the importance of ongoing cooperation and joint implementation of such initiatives, which bring joy, benefits, and meaningful content to children’s leisure time.

Yaroslav Galan, head of the public organisation “YOUTH. SCIENCE. SPORT. HEALTHY MOVEMENT OF UKRAINE, ‘candidate of physical education and sports sciences, associate professor Yaroslav Galan, who noted: ‘The integration of European values helps children grow up in an atmosphere of respect for human dignity, freedom and solidarity the very principles on which modern democratic Europe is built.” ‘When children learn to act together, support each other and value diversity, we are shaping a society capable of confidently building a European future for Ukraine’.

The participants were also addressed by Svitlana Duditska, a member of the organisation’s board, candidate of physical education and sports sciences, and associate professor, who familiarised those present with the programme of the event and emphasised the importance of such initiatives for the harmonious development of children.

The participants were divided into age groups and involved in various physical and creative activities.

Recreational gymnastics on fitness mats took place to calm music, helping children relax, feel their bodies, and enjoy movement.

The dual competition was a dynamic part of the programme, where children competed in skipping and standing long jump. The winners received commemorative medals.

The highlight of the event was a creative workshop where children created drawings inspired by national and European values: the flags of Ukraine and the European Union, the coat of arms of Ukraine, hearts, and symbols of unity.

Liliana Hutsuliak, an administrative employee of the organisation and project participant, led the workshop. Children’s visions of freedom, peace, dignity, Europe, and Ukraine were not just drawings but embodied in colours, symbols, and sincere emotions. Each drawing is a small step towards understanding the values that shape our common future.

We would like to thank all our partners for their cooperation, the camp administration for their openness to initiatives, and the children for their sincerity, energy, and belief in goodness.

Together, we are creating the future!
