Signing of the Agreement of Association is an important step towards European integration of Ukraine. European integration process demands harmonization of the material and procedural legislation in Ukraine with the EU law, and development of standard and legal base for cooperation between Ukrainian bodies of punitive justice and EU corresponding authorities. To be able to perform accordingly, the qualified experts are needed. At the moment,Ukraine needs to obtain experience and knowledge to be able to train such experts by itself. Objectives of this proposal are: Restructuring the current courses and introduction of the new modules to the university curriculum that include European Studies;Improving current teaching methods and implementing innovative approaches to teaching not only in the university, but also other various programmes havine in mind the goal of reforming the higher education system as a whole in Ukraine; Developing international and intercultural dialogue for mutual understanding between the partner universities and academic organizations of the EU countries through inter-university collaboration and cooperation; Adapting EU experience in teaching of the courses on ES in the university. The publication of a textbook in EU criminal policy will be a contribution for the achievement of this objective.Сurrent stage As of today, the Law School implemented Monnet module “”Introduction to European Law””, where the main priority is to provide the understanding of the legal mechanisms of the EU, their functions and different areas of the EU acquis. However, since the Association Agreement was signed between Ukraine and the EU, the reformation of Ukraininan higher education system began, therefore new modules/courses need to be developed and implemented to raise awareness regarding the EU and its criminal laws and policies. The course is interdisciplinary as it includes classical legal approaches as well as sociological and political prespectives.
