Coordination meeting of Erasmus+ CBHE EU4UA project (14.09.2023, online)
On September 14, 2023, the team of the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine joined the coordination meeting of the project partners “Modernization of legal education for the support of european and euro-atlantic integration of Ukraine (EU4UA)”, which took place at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
The event took place in a hybrid format, with the majority of the community located in Lviv, and others joining in an online format. In total, approximately 45 participants took part.
The opening remarks to the event were made by the Vice-Rector for Research,Teaching and International Cooperation of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Serhiy RYZNIK. “I thank all colleagues who joined in preparing the project, all our national and international partners. For the Ukrainian people, who for centuries were deprived of the opportunity to participate equally in the construction of a free European community, constantly endured unjust oppression and repression, the course towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration, especially after another russian aggression, is a consistent and self-evident step towards affirming independent, democratic, and constitutional statehood. Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration will undoubtedly make it stronger, but I am confident that Ukraine will also strengthen both the EU and NATO,” emphasised Serhiy RYZNIK.
The event coordinator, Professor of Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Law, Olena BORYSLAVSKA, welcomed the participants. “The project focuses on four main tasks, the first of which is to improve the content of basic disciplines at the law faculties of Ukrainian higher education institutions by providing educational programs with EU value orientations and incorporating Euro-Atlantic standards into them. Secondly, we plan the professional development of teachers at Ukrainian higher education institutions to achieve excellence in teaching basic legal disciplines in accordance with the values-oriented approach of the EU and NATO and updated curricula,” noted Olena BORYSLAVSKA, and explained two other project tasks: disseminating common European values and knowledge of the basics of the EU and NATO in the civil environment by introducing a Certification Programme for high school teachers and providing public servants with relevant knowledge through the implementation of the Training Programme for public servants on the principles of the EU and NATO.
Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, the coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine, expressed her happiness: “We are pleased that the team of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv has gained the trust to become the coordinator of the ‘EU4UA’ project. I am convinced that, in a few years, we will be just as happy with the success of the project and see the real significant changes it envisages. Expectations from ‘EU4UA’ are truly high, and I believe that through the joint efforts of all partners, we will achieve the high goal.”
