Європейські студії як засіб трансформації конфлікту в Україні

Ukraine undergoes significant changes in the aftermath of the “Maidan” revolution. On one hand, after a year of uncertainty and political struggle Ukraine is on the definite road towards full fledged association with the EU. On other hand, Ukraine paid a heavy price for this by being subjected to the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation and by plunging into bloody civil conflict in the East of Ukraine. The effective implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement (AA) is only possible under condition of Conflict Transformation in Ukraine. It requires not only political will but expert and academic support on behalf of highly qualified academics in area of European Studies in Ukraine. The project will contribute to the process of Conflict Transformation in Ukraine via promotion of ES and European common values in all regions of Ukraine including the East, South, West including, if possible, the separatist areas and Crimea. The project will improve transparency of ES in Ukraine and enhance networking between professors and researchers, their connection with local communities and their contribution to Conflict Transformation in Ukraine. Outputs of the project will be: 1) annual European Studies Congresses and academic workshops in different regions of Ukraine, involving major stakeholders, discussing objectives and methodology of Conflict Transformation and ES in Ukraine and developing the academic community’s recommendations on the strategy and tactics of the process of Conflict Transformation and EI of Ukraine, 2) a quarterly academic, multidisciplinary and peer-reviewed Ukrainian Journal of European Studies, and 3) on-line resource Ukrainian European Studies Portal 4) setting up a network of experts in Conflict Transformation by regular discussion webinars combining leading scholars and experts.
