International Seminar “Development of an Inclusive Educational Environment based on a Student-Centered Approach under the Emergencies” – TAM event (7-8.10.2025, online format)

The National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the HERE team organised the International seminar “Development of an Inclusive Educational Environment Based on a Student-Centered Approach under the Emergencies” that took place on October 7-8, 2025 in an online format with the support of SPHERE, EACEA and with the participation of TAM expert Dr. Jeanine GREGERSEN-HERMANS, Member Supervisory Board, Thomas More University of Applied Sciences, The Netherlands; Senior researcher and lecturer, Zuyd University of Applied Sciences (IBSM); Appointed Member of the Academic Board and Affiliate Faculty Centre for Higher Education Internationalisation, Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan, Italy.

On October 7, 2025, the TAM event began with welcome speech by Svitlana SHYTIKOVA, NEO – Ukraine Coordinator and opening remarks by Oleg SHAROV, Director General, Directorate for Higher and Adult Education, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, HERE on higher education development under the emergencies according to EHEA principles and national legislation, in particular on student-centered learning in Ukraine during the Russian military aggression.

The focus of the Dr. Jeanine GREGERSEN-HERMANІ – TAM expert’s presentations was on the following issues: development of an inclusive educational environment based on a student-centered approach according to EHEA trends as well as building the student’s individual learning pathway based on a student-centered approach using digital tools.

A discussion followed, addressing development of inclusive educational environment, implementation of Student-centered approach, creation of inclusive educational content using Universal Design for Learning and building the student’s individual learning pathway.

Outcomes and achievements of the Erasmus+ CBHE projects related to inclusive educational environment, student-centered approach, higher education under the Emergencies were presented by representatives of UA HEIs: AFID – Providing of Academic Freedom and Inclusion through Digitalization (Iryna ZOLOTARYOVA, Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics, NAQA Member, HERE; Natalia MAZARAKI, State University of Trade and Economics, National Coordinator, Head of the Department); PROMENT – Promoting professional education and students engagement through comprehensive mentoring and tutoring system at HEIs (Oleh MATIYKIV, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Grantholder, Vice-Rector; Alla KOVAL, Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University, Head of the Department); SMART-PL – Students’ Personalised Learning Model, Based on the Virtual Learning Environment of Intellectual Tutoring “Learning with No Limits” (Vitaliy KUKHARSKYY, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, National Coordinator, Professor; Sergiy LYSENKO, Khmelnytskyi National University, Deputy Dean); DEFEP – Distance Education for Future: best EU practices in response to the requests of modern higher education seekers and labour market (Olena FILIMONOVA, Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University, Grantholder, Leading Specialist of the International Relations Office; Maryna SILCHENKO, Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman, Vice Rector); Re-Direction – Redefining Higher Education on a digital context and mainstreaming a common inclusive and green structure based on EU best practices and policy recommendations (Maryna OSTAPETS, Kyiv Medical University, National Coordinator, Associate Professor); TURBO – The Universities’ Reaction to Big Obstructions: Building resilient higher education to respond and manage crises (Volodymyr RUBTSOV, IFSA President, Olga FILINA, IFAS Project Coordinator, International Charitable Foundation «International Foundation for Social Adaptation» (IFSA), National Coordinator).

 About 100 participants took part in TAM seminar.

On October 8, 2025, the meeting of the TAM expert Dr. Jeanine GREGERSEN-HERMANS, NEO – Ukraine, representatives of higher education institutions, Erasmus+ projects, HEREs was conducted to discuss the outcomes of the seminar and identify shortcomings, contradictions and gaps in the national legal framework on the seminar’s topic in comparison with EHEA documents and policies, as well as with European best practices. About 50 participants took part in TAM meeting.
